UCAT ANZ 2024 preliminary test statistics

Each UCAT ANZ section score ranges from 300 to 900 and the total cognitive score, which combines the scaled scores from the Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning and Abstract Reasoning sections, ranges from 1200 to 3600.

In 2024, the mean total scaled score of over 15,000 UCAT ANZ test-takers was 2588, which is higher than the final score of 2563 in 2023. Likewise, the median score (i.e. the 50th percentile) in 2024 was 2570, which is higher than 2550 in 2023.

The decile cut-off table and the percentile look up features are not yet available on the UCAT ANZ website.

Situational Judgement Test (SJT) section scores

In 2024, the mean SJT score was 569 (vs. 578 in 2023) and the median score was 578 (vs. 590 in 2023).

What does this mean for medical school admissions?

As both the mean and median total cognitive scaled score have increased compared to 2023, it’s likely that a higher UCAT ANZ total score is required to achieve a high percentile required for entry to undergraduate medical programmes in Australia.

Usually, a UCAT ANZ score of 90th percentile is required for entry into medical programmes, unless you have a very high ATAR or are applying from a rural or Indigenous background.

It should also be noted that a record-breaking 15,000+ candidates have sat the UCAT ANZ in 2024, meaning that the competition for medical or dental school places will be higher than ever.

When will the final UCAT statistics become available?

Final statistics will be released in September 2024. You’ll then be able to find out exactly what percentile score you've achieved.

Didn’t quite make the percentile you needed? If you want to sit the UCAT ANZ again next year, head over to our UCAT ANZ Online Course to get yourself prepared well in advance.
